Effects of the vertically transmitted microsporidian Facilispora margolisi and the parasiticide emamectin benzoate on salmon lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis)

(Submitter supplied) This study investigates transcriptomic responses of Pacific salmon lice, Lepeophtheirus salmonis, to infection with the microsporidian Facilispora margolisi and/or exposure to emamectin benzoate (EMB), an antiparasitic agent commonly used in salmon aquaculture.

Host-parasite transcriptomics during immunostimulant enhanced rejection of salmon lice Lepeophtheirus salmonis by Atlantic salmon Salmo salar

(Submitter supplied) We investigate the effect of a functional feed for immunostimulation (peptidoglycan extract from bacterial cell wall with nucleotide formulation) on L. salmonis infection levels on Atlantic salmon Salmo salar, and on host and parasite gene expression profiles. Atlantic salmon smolts (~95 g) were fed a control diet, or a low or high dose immunostimulant diet, and then exposed to L. salmonis copepodids in three subsequent exposures. more...

Enhanced transcriptomic responses in the Pacific salmon louse Lepeophtheirus salmonis oncorhynchi to the non-native Atlantic Salmon Salmo salar suggests increased parasite fitness

(Submitter supplied) This study investigates host-specific gene expression of the Pacific salmon lice, Lepeophtheirus salmonis oncorhynchii, while parasitizing a resistant host (Coho salmon), two susceptible hosts (Atlantic salmon, Sockeye salmon), and a population with-held hosts (starved), over 48 hrs.

Transcriptomic responses of copepodid sea lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) exposed to cypermethrin (Betamax®)

(Submitter supplied) This study investigates transcriptomic responses of Atlantic salmon lice, Lepeophtheirus salmonis exposed to cypermethrin, a commonly used antiparasitic agent used in aquaculture. Copepodid L. salmonis were exposed to cypermethrin (Betamax®) at a concentration of 1.0ppb

Sex-Biased Gene Expression and Sequence Conservation in Pacific and Atlantic Salmon Lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis)

(Submitter supplied) This study investigates sex-biased gene expression between populations of Atlantic and Pacific salmon lice, Lepeophtheirus salmonis. Two Atlantic L. salmonis populations were previously used for an array study (GSE56024) while a third dataset using Pacific L. salmonis was novel. Using all three populations, a consensus-based, meta-analysis approach was used to identify sex-biased and sex-specific genes.

Transcriptomic responses to emamectin benzoate in Pacific and Atlantic Canada salmon lice Lepeophtheirus salmonis with differing levels of drug resistance

(Submitter supplied) This study investigates the baseline or inducible differences in between populations of Atlantic salmon lice Lepeophtheirus salmonis with differing levels of resistance to the parasiticidal drug emamectin benzoate (EMB), as well as the induced effects of EMB exposure to Pacific salmon lice. F1 generation lice were exposed in bioassays to a dilution series of emamectin benzoate.

Transcriptomics of coping strategies in free-swimming Lepeophtheirus salmonis (Copepoda)

(Submitter supplied) To understand the sensitivity of larval lice to changing environmental parameters we applied a 38K oligo microarray and characterized transcriptome responses after 24 hour exposures to reduced salinity (30-10 parts per thousand (ppt)) or varied temperature (16-4ºC). To further characterize the effects of salinity, we profiled expression changes over a range of seawater with single increment differences (30-25 ppt).

GiLS Lepeophtheirus salmonis

(Submitter supplied) see eArray site; and Contigs from Yasuike et al. 2012 Genomic Resources for Sea Lice: Analysis of ESTs and Mitochondrial Genomes; The selection process was strongly biased in favor of the 3' region of consensus transcripts derived from the assembly of multiple high quality EST sequences. Oligos derived from the contigs were 60 bases in length. Each contig is represented at least twice (duplicate probes).
