Suction blisters were obtained as described previously from the inner forearms of 28 young (20 to 25 years) and 54 old (aged between 55 and 66 years) healthy female volunteers (Sudel et al Photochem Photobiol 2003). Suction blister roofs were taken and immediately stored at -80°C . For transcriptomics analysis the suction blister epidermis samples were homogenized using a ball mill. RNA was extracted using RNeasy Fibrous Tissue Mini Kit (Qiagen) according to manufacturer's instructions
