Treatment protocol |
Hippocampus was dissected on dry ice using established anatomical landmarks. Tissues were immediately submerged in RNA-stabilization solution (RNAlater, Ambion), and stored at −80 °C.

Extraction protocol |
RNeasy Mini Kits (Qiagen) were used to isolate total RNA with the addition of on-column DNase digestion. Quality control was performed with ND-1000 spectrophotometer (NanoDrop Technologies) and 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies).
