Identification of differentially expressed lncRNAs in CpG ODN-activated macrophage

(Submitter supplied) The innate immune system is the first line of defense against microbial pathogens. The activated innate immune system plays important roles in eliciting antimicrobial defenses. Despite the benefits of innate immune responses, excessive inflammation will cause host damage. Thus, tight regulation of these processes is required for the maintenance of immune homeostasis. Recently, a new class of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has emerged as important regulators in many physiological and pathological processes. more...

Long noncoding RNA and messenger RNA abnormalities in pediatric sepsis

(Submitter supplied) Sepsis represents a complex disease with dysregulated inflammatory response and high mortality rate. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to play regulatory roles in a variety of biological processes. However, studies evaluating the function of lncRNAs in pediatric sepsis are scarce, and current knowledge of the role of lncRNAs in pediatric sepsis is still limited. We explored the expression patterns of both lncRNAs and mRNAs between pediatric sepsis patients and healthy controls based on a comprehensive microarray analysis.

Expression profiling of lncRNAs, miRNAs and mRNAs and their differential expression in leiomyoma using next generation RNA sequencing

(Submitter supplied) Total RNA was isolated from leiomyoma and paired myometrium (N=8) and samples from three pairs were subjected to RNA sequencing. After analysis, 5941 lncRNAs (2813 up- and 3128 down-regulated at ≥1.5 fold), 148 miRNAs (56 up- and 96 down-regulated at ≥1.5 fold) and 3855 mRNAs (2030 up- and 1855 down-regulated at ≥1.5 fold) were differentially expressed in leiomyomas. Using QRT-PCR we further confirmed the expression of HULC, lnc-MEG3, LINC00890, TSIX, LINC00473, lnc-KLF9-1 and lnc-POTEM-3 (lncRNA-ATB) in leiomyoma and matched myometrium (N=8). more...

RNA-seq analysis of high fat diet-induced changes in macrophage transcriptome

(Submitter supplied) Systemic low-grade inflammation associated with obesity and the metabolic syndrome is also a strong risk factor for the development of diabetes. This inflammatory state is primarily caused by the release of proinflammatory cytokines by macrophages. However, the effect of obesity on the macrophage transcriptome, including long non-coding RNAs, is not known. Here, we analyzed global changes in gene expression of elicited peritoneal macrophages from mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD) or control diet for 12 weeks. more...

Expression data that were specifically regulated by lncRNA-LFAR1 in mouse primary HSCs

(Submitter supplied) Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in various biological processes; however, few have been identified that regulate hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) activation and the progression of liver fibrosis. Through a detailed analysis of the expression of lncRNAs in various tissues, we discovered the existence of a liver enriched lncRNA-LFAR1 (lncRNA-Liver Fibrosis Associated RNA1). To identify the roles of lncRNA-LFAR1 in liver fiboris, we systematically analyzed the regulation of mRNAs in primary HSCs infected with two separated lnc-LFAR1-shRNAs by RNA-seq, which revealed a panel of mRNAs that were specifically regulated by lncRNA-LFAR1 in mouse primary HSCs.
